Qualification for the Swiss final in the RoboMission category takes place either via direct qualification at a Regional Competition or via a national qualification ranking.

Direct qualification

In age groups in which at least 6 teams are present on the day of the competition, the best-placed team qualifies directly for the Swiss final. The prerequisite is that at least 60% of the maximum achievable score in the respective age group is achieved.

If there are at least 12 teams in an age group, the two best-placed teams qualify directly for the Swiss final. The minimum requirement of 60% of the maximum achievable score also applies here.

If no team reaches the required 60% or if there are fewer than 6 teams in an age group on the day of the competition, there will be no direct qualification. In this case, all teams in this age group will be included in the national qualification list.

Qualification list

The national qualification list includes all teams that have not qualified directly for the Swiss final via a Regional Competition.

Number of teams that can qualify via the qualification list (as of April 14, 2026)

Elementary: 7 teams
Junior: 9 teams
Senior: 10 teams

These quotas may increase if fewer teams enter than registered in individual age groups during the Regional Competitions or if the minimum score of 60% is not achieved and fewer direct qualifications can be awarded as a result.

The available places are continuously updated in the FAQ.

Additional starting place

If a team does not receive a starting place either via direct qualification or via the qualification list, it can still receive an additional starting place. The prerequisite for this is that this team is better placed in the overall ranking of all Regional Competitions than a team that has qualified directly and that there are still starting places available in the overall field of the Swiss Final.

Justification of the qualification mode

The WRO competition has grown considerably in recent years. The increasing number of teams and venues makes us very happy, but presents us with new challenges in terms of organizing the Swiss final.

With this qualification mode, we want to ensure that as many regions as possible are represented at the Swiss final, that the best teams from all Regional Competitions receive a starting place and that additional teams are able to qualify via the qualification list.

Moving up in the event of a cancellation

If a qualified team cancels its participation in the Swiss final, another team will take its place.

If the canceling team qualified directly as the winner of a Regional Competition, the next-placed team from that competition moves up.

If the canceling team was qualified via the qualification list, the next team on the qualification list moves up.

If the canceling team qualified via an additional starting place, no other team will move up.

Late entry procedures are possible up to one week before the Swiss final at the latest, as both the organization and the teams need a certain degree of planning security.
