In RoboMission Category, a Lego robot drives though a course and solves tasks there.

At Future Innovators the participants carry out a research project and develop a robot prototype.

A self-driving car is being developed at Future Engineers.

And the youngest roboticists make their first experiences with robotics in the Starter-Category.

This is the motto of the 2025 competition. How will robots shape our lives, and how can we shape the future of robots?

This year’s host country is Singapore. The competition tasks will be published here on January 15, 2025.

The WRO would like to offer competitions for teams from all over Switzerland. As a result, there will be many new locations for Regional Competitions in 2025.

The grand Swiss final will then take place in Hausen AG.

The WRO^® (World Robot Olympiad ^TM ) is a robotics competition for children and young people. There are different competition categories, but all of them focus on the design and programming of a robot. Children and young people aged 6 to 19 can take part in the competition in teams of 2 or 3 people and an adult coach. Teamwork, problem solving and computer skills are trained – along with thrills and lots of fun!

The classic form of the WRO competitions is the RoboMission category, in which a robot has to solve tasks independently on a game field within 2 minutes, e.g. moving objects or sorting them by color.

Exciting is the category Future Innovatorscategory, in which the teams work on a research task related to the theme of the year and invent a robot that can contribute to solving a problem in the real world.

In Switzerland, there is also a Starter Category for children aged 6 to 10 who are making their first attempts at robotics.

The best teams in the RoboMission and Future Innovators categories qualify for the WRO world finals or a friendly tournament.

Over 70,000 children and teens from more than 90 countries worldwide participate in WRO, giving them the opportunity to improve their problem-solving skills and understanding of technology through this challenging robotics competition – all while having a lot of fun!
