Exciting Categories<\/h2><\/div>

In RoboMission<\/b>, a Lego robot drives through a course and solves tasks.<\/p>\n

In Future Innovators<\/b>, participants carry out a research project and develop a robot prototype.<\/p>\n

In Future Engineers, a self-driving car is developed.<\/p>\n

And the youngest roboticists gain their first experience with robotics in the Starter category<\/b>.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Robots Meet Culture<\/h2><\/div>

This is the motto of the 2026 competition.<\/p>\n

This year’s host country is Puerto Rico. The competition tasks will be published here on January 15, 2026 .<\/p>\n<\/div>

Competitions at many locations in 3 language regions<\/h2><\/div>

The WRO would like to offer competitions for teams from all over Switzerland. There will therefore be many new locations for Regional Competitions in 2026.<\/p>\n

The grand Swiss final will then take place in Hausen AG.<\/p>\n<\/div>

What is the WRO?<\/h2><\/div>

The WRO\u00ae<\/sup> (World Robot Olympiad TM<\/sup> ) is a robotics competition for children and young people. There are different competition categories, but all of them focus on the design and programming of a robot. Children and young people aged 6 to 19 can take part in the competition in teams of 2 or 3 people and an adult coach. Teamwork, problem solving and computer skills are trained – along with thrills and lots of fun!<\/p>\n

The classic form of the WRO competitions is the RoboMission<\/a> category, in which a robot has to solve tasks independently on a game field within 2 minutes, e.g. moving objects or sorting them by color.<\/p>\n

Another exciting category is Future Innovators<\/a>category, in which the teams work on a research task related to the theme of the year and invent a robot that can contribute to solving a problem in the real world.<\/p>\n

In Switzerland, there is also a Starter category<\/a> for children aged 6 to 10 who are making their first attempts at robotics.<\/p>\n

The best teams in the RoboMission and Future Innovators categories qualify for the WRO world finals or a friendly tournament.<\/p>\n

Over 70,000 children and teens from more than 90 countries worldwide participate in WRO, giving them the opportunity to improve their problem-solving skills and understanding of technology through this challenging robotics competition – all while having a lot of fun!<\/p>\n<\/div>
