Find a team<\/h2><\/h2><\/div>

To take part in a WRO competition, you must be 2 or 3 children or young people. It doesn’t matter whether you find your teammates at school, in a club or in your private circle of friends. You also need an adult coach. This could be a teacher or a parent, for example. The coach then registers the team for the competition between December 1 and March 31.<\/p>\n

Decide on a competition category<\/h2><\/h2><\/div>

There are three competition categories:<\/p>\n<\/div>

RoboMission<\/h3><\/h3><\/div>

In this category, you build a robot that solves various tasks on a playing field, e.g. transporting objects and sorting them by color. The robot tries to score as many points as possible on the playing field within 2 minutes.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Permitted material<\/h4><\/h4><\/div>

Lego robots (SPIKE Prime, Robot Inventor, EV3 or NXT), free choice of programming language<\/p>\n<\/div>

Age Groups<\/h4><\/h4><\/div>

  • Elementary: 8 – 12 years<\/li>\n
  • Junior: 11 – 15 years<\/li>\n
  • Senior: 14 – 19 years<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    The age of the oldest participant on December 31 of the competition year is decisive for the selection of the age groups. Younger people can take part in an older team if at least one person is the right age for this age group.
    Persons who are older than 19 years of age on December 31 of the competition year cannot participate. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

    Future Innovators<\/h2><\/h2><\/div>

    In this category, you build a robot model related to the theme of the year and design a presentation. For this you will receive a stand measuring 2m x 2m x 2m on the day of the competition. You present your project to a jury. It awards points according to a predefined evaluation scheme.<\/p>\n<\/div>

    Permitted material<\/h4><\/h4><\/div>

    The type and number of controllers, sensors and motors is up to you. In addition to Lego robots, you can also use Raspberry Pi, Arduino or others. The type and material of the presentation is also up to you. You will be provided with a stand measuring 2m x 2m x 2m on the day of the competition.<\/p>\n<\/div>

    Age Groups<\/h4><\/h4><\/div>

    • Elementary: 8 – 12 years<\/li>\n
    • Junior: 11 – 15 years<\/li>\n
    • Senior: 14 – 19 years<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      The tasks are the same for all age groups, but there are different assessment criteria for older and younger teams. This allows all teams to compete against each other. The oldest team member is always decisive for the classification in the age group.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

      Starter category<\/h2><\/h2><\/div>

      This category is for the youngest roboticists. You build a robot that solves tasks on the playing field. You collect points on the pitch. Our partners organize workshops in preparation for this. <\/p>\n<\/div>

      Permitted material<\/h4><\/h4><\/div>

      Lego SPIKE Essential or Lego WeDo 2.0 with the corresponding software. The SPIKE Prime is also permitted, but there is a restriction on the number and type of motors and sensors used. <\/p>\n<\/div>

      Age Groups<\/h4><\/h4><\/div>
