Robots Meet Culture

This is the motto of the 2026 competition.

This year's host country is Puerto Rico. The competition tasks will be published here on January 15, 2026 .

Competitions at many locations in 3 language regions

The WRO would like to offer competitions for teams from all over Switzerland. As a result, there will be many new locations for Regional Competitions in 2025.

The grand Swiss final will then take place in Hausen AG.

What is the WRO?

The WRO® (World Robot Olympiad TM ) is a robotics competition for children and young people. There are different competition categories, but all of them focus on the design and programming of a robot. Children and young people aged 6 to 19 can take part in the competition in teams of 2 or 3 people and an adult coach. Teamwork, problem solving and computer skills are trained – along with thrills and lots of fun!

The classic form of the WRO competitions is the RoboMission category, in which a robot has to solve tasks independently on a game field within 2 minutes, e.g. moving objects or sorting them by color.

Another exciting category is Future Innovatorscategory, in which the teams work on a research task related to the theme of the year and invent a robot that can contribute to solving a problem in the real world.

In Switzerland, there is also a Starter Category for children aged 6 to 10 who are making their first attempts at robotics.

The best teams in the RoboMission and Future Innovators categories qualify for the WRO world finals or a friendly tournament.

Over 70,000 children and teens from more than 90 countries worldwide participate in WRO, giving them the opportunity to improve their problem-solving skills and understanding of technology through this challenging robotics competition – all while having a lot of fun!

WRO Switzerland would like to thank all partners who have made our competitions possible!
